Pecan Variety Descriptions

Cheyenne is one of the highest quality pecan grown. It’s kernels have a rounded shape and are cream in color.  It is highly recommended because of its superior kernel quality and strong market demand.  Although it’s very easy to shell by hand, this is our favorite "shelling" pecan and our first choice to fill gift and customer mail orders.

Pawnee is the first pecan variety we harvest each season and we sell it "in-shell". It has excellent taste and a golden color. Average yield is between 56 and 58.5% kernel.  Size runs about 40 nuts to the pound.

Sioux is a very small, extremely high quality pecan.  The kernel has the lightest color of any in our orchard and the thinnest shell. We sell this pecan both "in-shell" and "shelled."

Desirable is a large, high quality pecan with a golden colored kernel and excellent taste.  It is easy to shell and yields approximately 54% with 37-40 nuts to the pound.  We are currently selling all of our Desirable "in-shell".

Shawnee is a long, slender pecan with a golden color. It’s easy to shell and runs about 57% kernel.  We "shell" most of this variety because it is harvested early in the season.

Wichita is medium-sized, has excellent kernel color at harvest and has the highest percent meat of all major cultivated varieties.  This variety yields between 56 and 58% kernel with 52 - 60 nuts to the pound. We sell this variety both "in-shell" and "shelled".

Shoshoni is a large, round shaped pecan which is easy to shell and is dark golden in color.  This is also one of the earlier harvested varieties and we sell this pecan "shelled".
